Welcome to the verquer Repair Café!

Do you have a broken item that is dear to you and would you rather keep using it than throw it away? Would you like to learn how appliances work and how to repair them?

Then you are warmly invited to get your broken radios, food processors, computers, furniture and much more back in working order with the help of experts.

Do you have the skills or tools to fix broken things and would like to help others do the same? Would you like to help run the Repair Café?

Then come along to the verquer. Repair Café at STRAZE. Every other Monday (odd-numbered calendar weeks) from 4 pm, we open our doors for troubleshooting, soldering, screwing, welding, gluing, tinkering, … in a relaxed atmosphere and with expert help.

And this is how it works…

Participants of all ages – from children and teenagers to senior citizens – can work alongside the craftspeople to develop their own knowledge and skills in screwing, mending and soldering, and learn about the production processes and resources required for many products.

This is all run on a voluntary basis, so we’d be delighted to receive donations and welcome your active involvement. Perhaps you’re good with electronics or mechanics, or enjoy baking cakes?

We are one of hundreds of repair initiatives. You can find information about how we work, our background and other initiatives on the Repair Initiatives Network website, for example.

Please note:

Please only bring in large appliances, such as washing machines, or items that appear to be particularly difficult to repair after first contacting us to discuss the issue or provide a description of the fault. You can contact us at reparieren@bildung-verquer.de or on 03834-77 37 881.

We are not a free repair service, but a community-run initiative designed to help people help themselves. The event is run by volunteers and repairers who offer their knowledge and skills voluntarily and free of charge because they are interested in technology, DIY and craftsmanship.

You will need to cover the cost of materials you may require.

Is our repair initiative too far away?

If so, have a look at the following websites to find other repair groups or find out how to start your own initiative.

Of course, you could also try repairing things yourself. You can find information and instructions here, for example.
